Geez Kieth, the outside miters could be matched like the inside ones :-)) On a more serious note, beautiful job!!

Tapamax, I’ll have to study up on that. The problem is that one stick is supposed to go from one side, through the top, then down the next. So that if you take the inlay away the grain runs straight through from triangle to triangle. This would make it impossible to match the corners. However, with the inlay there the grain doesn’t need to go through and the single board can be mitered to get one side to match. 2 sides won’t match though, unless I have 2 boards per side, cut the miters first then glue them together for the sides. AAARRRGGGHHHH, that sounds like a lot of work, but the wheels are turning. There’s always room for improvement, and it just so happens that there is a need for another one in the future. I have the intent to make one for my buddy at work. We will see though. LOL

This turned out so awesome babe! I’ll TRY not to get to mushy/lovey-dovey here…but I wanted to comment.
I always like watching you work, but I really enjoyed watching you make THIS one….seeing how you matched up the grain in the bamboo and all the care you took matching up the miters just perfectly. Your patience totally paid off!
When you know in your mind exactly what you want to do, and you’re excited to make something a certain way like you were with this box, watching it come to life is a beautiful thing. Your artistry and attention to detail is very inspiring to me : )
