They tore down my grandfather’s barn so I got some of the wood and put it to use. I don’t usually build anything but outdoor furniture but wanted to use some of it around the house. I also made my sister an old fashioned jelly cabinet.

” I also made my sister an old fashioned jelly cabinet.”

What was she before?

Beautiful project. I happen to love that distressed barn wood look. It doesn’t work for /every/ application, but ….

My brother uses the wood to make art display/”shadow” boxes—often highlighting his exceptional black and white photos of dilapidated old barns. That’s also a great look.

Nicely done!

Some people spend a lot of time trying to make wood look distressed. I think you found the easy solution… Start with already distressed wood.

Cool desk.
