One of my first attempts a few years ago at “fine woodworking”
Made as a gift, it is of course a direct rip off of George nelson’s ( http://tinyurl.com/2rxbka ) Platform Bench: http://tinyurl.com/23qexp .
This version is primarily a coffee table. Though I have seen people sitting on it (and I cringe every time)
60” x 21”, strips are 1” thick, hard maple, wipe of poly. (my finishing skills as laaaaacking) NO metal—large finger joints and glue.
Thanks for looking,
-Dan

Fine, indeed.

beautiful table-”bench” (just had to say that cause I think that I’d probably sit on it as well. We used to have benches that looked like that when I was in college.

Nice and tight joints. The fact that it handles people sitting on it is a testiment of how well you built it.
