Running in my “Fun With Cedar Logs” Series on functional woodart made from discarded Kansas Flint Hill’s Prairie cedar trees, I built a little stool.
We use it in our entryway as a place to sit and take off, and put on shoes. I hung the “Western Hat Rack” on the wall above the stool as an ensemble (clinch your teeth when you say “ensemble”). Ha, have fun.
This item is ”For Sale”, but until it sells, we are using it at home.
I entered this item in the local Chase County Fair last week, where it took 2nd place in “woodworking”, losing to my “Against The Wind” carved white oak chair.
Thanks for looking,
Mark DeCou

Thanks RobS: I saw your “Big Ash” project this morning, and remembered that I hadn’t photographed my own cedar stool. So, wallah, it is posted now.
thanks,
Mark

second place huh.. sorry to hear that you lost out to some other woodworker… he’s probably not as good.. just got lucky (haha yes, I saw that you won the first place as well—congratulations!!)
I love this bench—you know I love the rustic look. I like how the bench looks like it was just a log cut in half with 4 legs slapped onto it… really adds to the overall rustic look. Well done.

So different from your fine woodworking style. Isn’t expression with wood fantastic – so varied?
