PET MEMORIAL ” HARRY BEAR” IN BLACK WALNUT AND ZEBRANO LETTERING -CELTIC CROSS-

I had a request to make another Pet Memorial for a friends Terrier Dog with paw prints a heart and his name.
So here it is based on a Celtic Cross which is a very common sight in Grave yards here in the UK.

I made up a design and cut it out on my scroll saw , and stands at 20 inch tall and the upper part is 10 inch across and around an inch thick.

I decided to scroll the lettering out of Zebrano to contrast with the Walnut to make the name really stand out.

I have trimmed all the edges back and front with my palm router to add to its depth and highlight the overall shape.

The Memorial Plaque has also had a good soak in Tung oil to help protect it from our poor climate.

The last photo is just a very common Celtic Head stone to give you an idea as to where some of my inspiration comes from with all mt Celtic Work.

Sorry not been on LJs much this last 2 months I have been quite busy with projects for December along with trying my hand at a new skill of Stained Glass, which I hope to incorporate with my wood craft.

Thanks for checking out my project Regards Barry —- Windsor England..

Someone said: ’’who loves animals loves people too’’. Obviously you are one of them- you love both. Great thing to do for an animal pet.

Great job on that one Barry. I always hate the day we need to make these for our pets. How’s your weather over across the pond. Nice and sunny here in the Islands….sorry, didn’t mean to rub it in :)

Hi Larry Thanks ! Yep. My Dog is also a grand 17 year old Terrier cross Old Boy I know one day I will be making his memorial….. If I remember you work a lot with animals….. Well West London is a very chilly frosty and a unpleasent 02C degrees….. I love the Spanish climate only 1000 miles south from here and its our plan to try sell up and head south….but for now head down and work…. Hope life’s good in your sunny island. Take care and good luck for 2016.

This turned out nicely. The cross is beautiful.
