Several years ago, one of my former Airmen was visiting me on the coast and we threw together some maple and walnut into a ridiculously simple cutting board. Well somewhere along the way during one of her moves the board was lost/stolen.
Flash forward to this past October and she graduates nursing school and is now an RN (so proud of her). I figured the perfect gift would be to replace the lost board with something a little nicer.
Stayed with the maple and walnut and added a 1/8” cherry strip separating each piece. The great thing about making one of these is of course you get two. And it was fortuitous because as soon as her mother saw it, she wanted one as well. So I had to send the second one to her.
Simple mineral oil for the finish.
