Pic 1. Wedge from logging site. Puts me in the mind of a cross section of a seed. It’s gonna be a desk set with two cones to hold pens, and perhaps a small digital clock. Still in the planning stage.

Pic 2. Knuckle of a branch.

Pic 3. Some sort of bulge from the trunk of a tree (burl?). Makes me think of a walnut. Not the tree, the nut.

Pic 4. A cube of maple. Finished with shellac. Dusty on one side.

Pic 5. A ‘gluelam’ with 14 0r 15 plys (plies?) of birch 3/16×2 x 18” discards from a mill that makes popsicle stichs, tongue depressers, golf tees,, etc. Glued them up and clamped the be-Jesus out of them, cause they were cupped (that’s why they were discards. A friend of mine gave me seven BIG boxes of them). Then jointed and paned it, and then sanded like crazy.

Pic 3. Also shown is my first attempt at sectional turning.
This is either popple or maple.
Still has ends glued on.
Look close and you’ll see spaces between pieces.

Also shown here and in other pics on this project is the walnut Poppy Table shelf mistake. I don’t know what I’m gonna do wit it. Walnut is such nice wood. Plus I sanded it real nice, in all the edge nooks and crannies using my soon to be patented ‘credit-card-with-sandpaper-glued-on tool’. mmm, walnut.

I like the variety of projects you have in the works. I still have so many “pendings” also.

Looking forward to seeing the final results. Good luck.

Can’t wait to see what is going to come out off that wedge?

How do you manage to get dust only on one side of a cube ? In my shop it would have dust on all six sides, including the one on the bottom.
