Was asked to make a recipe box for someone right after making my dovetail jog. Well you know what that meant I had a volunteer for its use. I was pleased with both splines and hope to use on future projects.

The box is 5” x 10” and about 6” tall which I used.cypress for the sides. First time using it as it was a cheaper wood for this project but the grain shows very well in some areas. The lid is padauk with strips of Purple Heart and maple. The splines also are padauk and walnut dovetails.

Like the cypress on finishing but was little apprehensive while finishing the box. No stain was used at all on project all is true wood color and used one coat of Zinsler sanding sealer with Deft clear gloss 3 coats.

Thanks for looking

You did a great job on this recipe box, love the detail you put into it
