Puzzle Plaque

I was contacted by a young Marine going through a class here at Keesler AFB asking if I could make a plaque for their class. Since there were members of the class from 6 different organizations (USMC, USN, USA, USCG, ANG, and Saudi Arabia) they wanted something that showed how all of them came together to form one unit. They wanted a puzzle type plaque (picture 3 is what they sent) A little quick Sketchup work and you see what I sent back for approval (picture 4). The final picture is what I sent him during the construction process so he could show the class.

The center section includes the instructors and some sayings they had in their class along with a coin for their class. Each of the outer pieces contains the names of the students from that organization along with a coin for that organization.

Finished size was 20” in diameter and took a single 1” x 6” x 8’ red oak board from the big blue box store. Needless to say they were quite happy with the finished product.

Fantastic job!

Love the collaboration during the design phase and thanks for showing the drawing as it really helps to see the process from start to finish.

This shows some really good attention to details that make a project like this go from ho-hum to WOW!

You didn’t mention where this was to be displayed? I hope it’s in a place where a lot get to see it.

Cheers, and thanks for sharing!

Thanks Larry. Thanks Bob. And I believe it is hanging in the hallway outside the instructors’ offices so all who enter will see it.

Really like the concept of all the pieces of the puzzle coming together. Very nicely done
