Backyard swing set/fort

Project by pinkfish posted 66 days ago 385 views 4 times favorited 6 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This is a swing/slide/climbing wall I made for my daughter in our backyard. Prooved to be quite successful, the neighbours on one of the other sides got me to make just a swing set for them. This is a bit over engineered, but it is very very sturdy, I can swing on it with no problems and without it moving at all.

It was quite a fun project, although, as always, took longer than I expected to complete.

Looks like a mighty fine fort. The kids will remember it for a long time.

If you want to kick it up a notch, you can deck the lower section and add a 2×6 around the perimeter. I lined mine with roofing paper because I had it on hand, but you could also use a plastic tarp. Once the lower section is boxed, fill it with play sand and watch your daughter never climb the rockwall again (I have four kids who only use the swings and the sand box :-)

There a picture in one of my older projects if you want to get some more ideas…
