Spalted Maple Candy Dish

Project by Woodsdweller posted 72 days ago 347 views 0 times favorited 12 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This 6 inch maple bowl had some really nice figure and spalting. Turned to 1/8” wall thickness and finished with salad bowl finish, then buffed.

Nice piece of work. I love the suprise patterns spalting gives the finished work.

Is it one of those “monkey” traps? You get your hand in the opening to take some candy and can’t get it out with your fist closed closed. Ha Ha, just kidding but that came to mind when called it a candy dish and gave the size.

Nice turning, nice figure too. I’ve read that you shouldn’t use spalted woods for food, unless you put a hard finish on it like polyurethene.

Fantastic! Very nice design. Love the turned in inside lip. Great piece of wood also. The spalting really came through nice in this.

Keep up the fantastic work.
