Bottle stopper

Project by Alan posted 70 days ago 366 views 2 times favorited 10 comments Add to Favorites Watch

Bottle stoppers – most are made with maple and a couple from mahogany. Finishes are aniline dyes and wipe on poly. The bottoms were purchased from http://www.dfi-stainless-steel.com/. Made them to give away as gifts. More fun quick projects.

Ooooh, nice link. Those stopper look very high quality, and the price is not bad either.

Good work on the stoppers, those look like fun to make. I’ve made a couple, but haven’t been happy with the results. I might need to try some for Christmas gifts.

Nice work.
I was just thinking of posting some of mine and challenging others to show their designs. I’m always at a loss as to how to make them different and interesting. I will post some of mine later. With holiday parties coming up I find them make great hostess gifts and you can give them to the same person more than once because everyone needs several. I use the silicon sleeve type tips because they seal better and you can even lay the bottles down in the fridge if necessary.

Thanks for the positive comments. I always try to make each one a little different. I’m getting a little better at the lathe, but there are still a few that end up in the garbage bin.

These are such a blast to make. People love ‘em as gifts and they are so much fun to make. I like your designs, I have not thought about using stains as I like using differnt wood species but these give some good ideas. I keep looking for the “best” design so as other guys see this, please post your ideas.

I ordered 20 of the number 300’s. There was a discounted price if you ordered 20. They were very good and I received them quicker than I thought I would, they are on the otherside of the country from me.
