Here is a dining table I recently finished. The top is 72” x 42”, and has a butterfly leaf that when extended, add another 18” in length. The legs are canted out at 45 degrees from the corners, and the rails are joined to the legs at 45 also. The curved lower rails of the table are bent laminations, and the entire base is joined together with loose tenons.

The top is shop sawn walnut veneer with an ash bottom. There is also a faux maple inlay and walnut frame surrounding the top.

I had a lot of fun designing and building this piece, and hope you like what I have done. If you have any questions about the construction of this piece, please leave a comment.

There is also a 10 part video series of the entire build on my You Tube channel if you would like to check that out also.

Beautiful work. Love the bent laminations. What can you tell us about the finishing process?

Thanks! The maple inlay was coated with shellac, then masked off. I applied a dye to the walnut to make it a little darker, then ended up with Arm-R-Seal as the finish. If you watch the last video in the series, I show how all this is poerformed.
