A wood box made with wenge and marblewood with wood hinge. The hinge is maple but it’s color didn’t look right when combined with the other woods…so I dyed it black.
10×7x5”

Great looking box. I’m thinking about wood hinges now. Did you use a commercial hinge making jig? If you like to share, then also how did you sculpt it?

I used an Incra ibox jig to cut the hinges and their hinge drilling jig for lining up the holes. I had a homemade jig for cutting the hinge knuckles but it always seemed to make the hinges too tight. I like the ability of the Incra ibox jig to fine tune the cuts.

Amazing! Those corners look like 1960’s Op-Art. The dyed Maple hinge is a great accent. Truly beautiful, thanks for sharing.

This is a spectacular box. Great wood combination, just the right amount of sculpting, and I LOVE WOODEN HINGES!

I’m not sure how you did the hinges with the I Box? The hinge looks too long to drill the hole for the pin???

Thanks:
I used the Incra Hingemaster jig for drilling the hinge pin holes. It can be used to drill up to a 10” hinge if drilled from both ends and meeting at the center. My hinges are only 8 1/4” so I had some to spare
