Hello, I just joined the site in the past ten minutes. My project is a sewing thread spool cabinet that I made for my wife’s Christmas present present. The six drawer cabinet and base unit is made from hard maple. The rope twist half spindles were made on my Craftsman router crafter. The inset panels are birdseye maple. The 1/4” plate glass windows are personalized to her past business of over twenty-five years. The drawers are dovetailed. The seven piece top boards are doweled together. The sides were made from leftover 3/4” hard maple tongue and groove flooring from my kitchen. The base unit is joined with mortise and tenon joinery.
I am looking forward to being a member of this site.

This is amazing. Beautiful craftsmanship. I bet the wife loved it. Welcome to lumberjocks, hope to see more!

Jeff,
Thank you for the kind review of the thread spool cabinet. My wife did indeed like it, because over 20 years ago she thought about having a local Amish wood craftsman make one out of birdseye maple, but the price asked was incredible high, so we never made the investment. Being retired now afforded me the time to work on this piece.
I looked at your project gallery and like the fact that the items you have made are all practical things that can be used in everyday life, and they look really fine to me.
