This started off with the intentions of making a simple stained pine jewelry box for my wife’s Christmas present. Somewhere along the way it took on a life of its own growing and changing seemingly without any conscious decision on my part. After building the basic cabinet out of pine i then decided to laminate the entire thing with 3/16” thick hardwood planks that i cut from pallets. I made 99% of this with pallets that I recycled, the only wood that isn’t pallet wood is the trim to hide the edges of the fabric and there is tongue and groove cedar on the back of it (she loves the smell of cedar). Every part of this was hand made by me from the stainless steel base and bracelet bar (I’m also a welder/fabricator) to most of the trim. After over 100 hours this turned out far better than I had hoped and she now has a beautiful jewelry box that will last forever and be passed down as a family heirloom. The only downfall of this is the fact that it weighs around 200lbs, but every cloud has a silver lining….... being so heavy I don’t ever see it being stolen!

I see someone spending a lot of time shopping and buying jewelery for his wife just to fill the jewelery box, what was you thinking man…...... just kidding.
Nice job on the build, it looks great.
