This horizontal Murphy bed is one I built before. This time I added a folding desk to the face and bookcase on the top. This has been a popular one lately. This Manhattan Horizontal version has a real contemporary face. The handle is cut into the upper portion of the face, so that it really clears up the face.
This bed was built in September 2015 using Maple wood with just a clear coat finish.
2 1/4” Verticals
One of the feature of both this Horizontal Manhattan and the standard upright version, is the 2 1/4” verticals. This is triple thick then the standard 3/4” used on most. This give the piece a 2 1/4 border all the way around (not on the bottom on these example, but there could be)
I put a folding desk on the face. The face folds down on this one compared to folding up on most of the vertical (upright) versions I build.
I added an optional upper Murphy bookcase. This bookcase can be configured any custom way you’d like. Shown here with just open/adjustable shelves.
