Project Information

A must have for my shop is good music at all times. I have made two of these now and I am always amazed at how well they sound. This one went trough a few changes as I worked on it. Started out using just some leftover lumber to build the box, then realized the speakers I had were terrible so orders some inexpensive but good 30 watt speakers then the amp I had would not drive them, so I found the one you see above, link below to the vendor. The box works great I was able to dato it into the side so all wiring is internal. Only external connection is power. End result is great music with minimal effort to start and connect via blue tooth from phone or tablet.

Not only is this a great idea, but it is really well executed! Thanks for the link to the amp.

Did you ever contemplate putting in a small fm receiver so you can play your favourite radio station as well.

I actually use Pandora for my music source so FM was not a consideration. When I do want radio I use Tune-In on my phone/tablet so still don't see need for receiver. Guess it depends on how you get your music.

Well done. That's a cool, compact speaker system you have put together. This is the second one I've looked at on the site that I like. Yours, like the first one has Bluetooth and uses a similar music source and shares a compact design. It show a nice level of workmanship too.

I should have looked around the site before building my own. Just put the finishing touches on the one I started building & using months ago. It works in a similar fashion. Phone, tablet, laptop music source to powered speakers via Bluetooth or cable. I'm attracted to the smaller designs, but my criteria needed/allowed for a bigger sound so I'm using a furniture dolly to roll it about and a small BBQ grill cover to protect it. We use the system I put together at the job site, shop, and on my back porch. Some of the size of the one I put together is attributed to more than just a sound system. We also use it for a tool battery charging station, electronic device charging station, and a portable viewing platform for a laptop.
