Maple iPhone Case

Just playing in the shop, learning how to do various cuts. The inside is routed out with a straight bit, the curved bits on the inside put in with a bullnose. Everything else is cut with a hand saw and a chisel, technique I clearly need to work on.

I built one out of mahogany, which doesn’t have enough cross-grain strength for this, and I’ve got another one in the shop in progress out of purpleheart, but I think this one will work for a while.

Hopefully fixed the pictures

Whoah? What happened? Those pictures looked nice and sharp and clear on my machine!

Sorry, folks, I’ll get ‘em on my own site in a bit and link to them.

That’s a cool idea, anyhow. I hope my wife doesn’t see it.

Peik, I think you win. Now I’m going to have to try to find some apple.

Thanks! One caveat to those who’d follow in my footsteps: barely visible up next to the speaker above the screen are some little slightly orange-ish circles. Those are heat sensors that tell if you’ve got the iPhone up against your face, and disable touches if it is. Don’t cover those up with your face, or you’ll be constantly wondering how your iPhone is getting muted.

And now that I’ve got a milling machine, I may try this again.
