This a huge 4.5’x5’ coffee table with a curly cherry top and a walnut base. This started because I wanted to make something with a new kind of half lap joint. I essentially combined a half lap and a mitered joint and then inserted splines into it. The result was a pretty clean base with good transitions. When I got this Cherry I could see some of the figure in the boards, but had no idea how much curl was going to come out. I used shellac to pop the waves of the boards before finishing with Arm-R-Seal semi gloss.
