Ok so dad had this hunk o wood in his garage for about 45 years. Came from my grandfather. (I dont k ow what it is, i have an id help request posted lol). When we were cleaning out the house to move them to florida, we got in a huge fight over this wood lol. Apparently he had just been waiting for the right moment to use this . And it was right then. It was his wood and i could not have it! (Keep in mind dad does NOT, i repeat NOT work with wood.) So naturally i gave it back to him and stole it when he was distracted lol. So this is his christmas present, or another one at least. That wY his precious wood can always be at the ready, at a moments notice, to spring into use. Cut on bandsaw, shaped with belt sander. Sanded to 1200 grit and hit with paste wax. Thank you for looking!

Really nice gift and interesting story. Probably turn out to be family heirloom.

Very Nice!

Very nice design on that letter opener. It looks like red oak to me.
