Solid Maple birdhouse made with box joints on all four sides. The rusted roof was cut from an old fifty gallon drum. The perch was taken off the end of an old butcher’s steel. This birdhouse needs some vents in the back and a way to open it for cleaning. This was more of an experiment using my Leigh jig.

It looks like the experiment worked, nice tight joints. The roof idea is very nice. Good work.

It’s very good as woodworking experience…unfortunately I don’t think it may work as actual birdhouse. I have built some of them – well, not so nice – and I can testify that birds don’t like glue or varnish. If one wants the birds to nest inside a birdhouse, he has to use old wood, maybe quite rotten, without any human/industrial smell, using simple nails for fastening.

Good work anyway for me too :).

This piece is too nice for wild birds. Just hang it up for show. Great look, nice job.
