Project Information

Blanket Chest, white oak throughout. Frame-and-panel bottom, rabbeted into the sides and screwed. Breadboard ends on the lid. Very happy with how this turned out. Oil-based poly (always). I sometimes mix 1/3 mineral spirits with 2/3 poly and rag on, but I don't think I did that this time. Too lazy to run out to the shop and check my notes. Also, I hear that thinning satin poly negates the flattening agent that makes it satin, and in my experience, this seems true. This was a graduation gift for my niece, and I banged it out in less than a month. That's good shootin', Tex.

Extra-sharp dovetails on this one. Well done indeed.

Awesome! I checked this out on your blog after you commented on my blanket chest post and was hoping you'd post it up. The dovetails look very tight, and I like the breadboard ends on the lid-I bet it will stay pretty flat.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate it. One of my favorite builds.
