I’ve been thinking about this simple project for 4 years ever since I received two non-working lamps with damaged weighted bases. I replaced the weight in the base with a used brake rotor. Then I made a platform for the vacuum hose to be held when I needed it…on the router portion of my tablesaw or on my drill press. There may even be other places…like the top of my bandsaw when I’m resawing or when I’m sanding. I also decided that I would use the bungie cord because I don’t know whether I’m going to use it just for my 2 1/4 inch ShopVac hose or for the 5 inch hose on my dust collector. This way I can use it both ways. Anyway, I’ve re-purposed a lamp stand into a usable vacuum hose holder for my shop. Very simple, but useful.

Hey, you said you had two of the lamps. Can you UPS the other to me? Awesome idea and use rather than throwaway of the lamps. Very clever as Bob said.
