Shaker candle box - Kahikatea

A basic Shaker candle box from Paul Sellers’ book “Working Wood 1&2”. My first attempt at dovetails, as you can see if you look hard enough :P

I managed to acquire a piece of 17+ year old Kahikatea (New Zealand native wood similar to pine) that had been sitting lonely in the woodshed.

This was a present to my partner for his birthday. I was very pleased to hear him say “did you use a router for this?” when he felt the rounded corners on the top and base :) All done with hand tools!

Very nice,

I made the same box, but my hand cut dovetails were horrible. I plan on making another one and perhaps I’l post that one ha. Nice job and thanks for posting.
