I desperately needed storage in my basement workshop/storage room. I modified shelf plans from Family Handyman by using some commercial construction galvanized steel supports I picked up from some friends that were building an indoor gun range and had this material left over. I thought I might need it someday and stored it for years and it came in handy, as the original plans called for about 4’ of spacing between the triangle supports.
The long steel supports allowed considerably more distance between supports and allowed me to span the distance over double doors as well. I had to notch the triangle supports to allow the steel to sit flush with the top of the triangle support. All wood is 3/4 ply, and the shelf sits on the wood and steel along with the edge of the 3/4 panel on the wall. As you can see, I have them pretty well loaded
I plan to also mount them on the white wall to the left of the last picture which is poured concrete, but haven’t decided which mounting method to use or if I will use the plywood wall covering against the cement wall under the shelf.
I will post pics later of the bench that is mounted on the concrete wall. Thanks for looking.

cool! i have that same plan and have been thinking of where/when to use it. Do you plan on making any of the other stuff with the plan? I liked the closet rods and golf organizer.

Thanks all…..
Cory, I am planning to modify their plans and mount some kind of storage. So many options, so little time!
