More Christmas videos! This one is for my niece Madeline, and is made from the same block of old oak that her mother’s present was cut from (check that out here: https://youtu.be/H8R2piGfe7o)
This was a really fun project, a lot of firsts for me trying out different techniques. I made a quick jig to do splined miter joints for the sides, which I filled with a mix or red heart, purple heart, and osage orange. This was also my first time using a dado for the box bottom, which i’m kicking myself for not trying sooner.
The epoxy was mixed with a pearl powder for automotive paint, for the lid I wanted to loosely mimic a riverbank so I poured two layers, one colored one clear layer above to set everything in.
