The box locks down to the truck. It has small storage compartments on each end. The topper slides into two log braces and hinges open if I need to haul something tall, or can easily be removed. A wood dowel holds it up if necessary. Bungies hold it down. I made this about 5 years ago, and has been refinished twice. Not bad for cheap pine and Minnesota weather. It is about on it’s last leg though…....but it served it’s purpose, to keep the snow from piling up in the box. Next time I’ll use cedar or tamarack.

neat… how about teak? (yeah, a bit pricey…)
I wouldn’t have thought wood at all and just go with typical commercial product. Well done.

Me too I suggest teak. Then when you are not driving your truck you park it near your deck and thorw a patio set on it. Instant deck extension. LOL
I also think 5 years out of pine is pretty good. What finish did you use?
