Folding bench

I made a couple of these as Christmas presents this year. They were well received and I enjoyed making them. My wife now wants a pair of them for our home… I am finding this to be a common theme when I build things for others… :)

This bench is particularly nice in that it folds nearly flat for storage. And since it is made of cedar, it is very light and easy to pick up and move around. I was pleasantly surprised at the weight it took; two full (or larger) sized adults, no problem.

Plans came from Woodsmith.

Merry Christmas everyone!
RJ

Looks like a cool build. I can’t seem to find the plans on Woodsmith. Any key words that might help? I tried folding bench, bench and a few others with no luck.

Thanks, Mike.

Thanks pottz. I appreciate the compliment. I do need to post more of my projects. Maybe in the next few weeks, I’ll see what I can do. :)

And it was in Vol. 23 No. 136 listed as a “Fold-Up Garden Bench”

The bench that has been offered at http://www.javateakoutdoorfurniture.com/products/benches/ looks inspired from this idea. I wanted to try benches than of single deep seating.

Have your say...
