Greetings All,
It has been a while since I have posted. But I have been busy in the shop. More on that in my blog. This post is about my daughter’s Christmas gift. It was 8 years ago that I built out a playhouse area for my daughter in the basement. She and her friend have put it to good use over the years but she was getting a bit to big for it and it was becoming a collector of crap in the basement.

She is now 9 and loves American Girl, they are starting to wander aroud the house a bit too much so I figured she needed a more central location to play. I removed the old sliding board that went to her loft space and built a 5 room play space with storage below. The loft is still an area she can get up to and read in or relax if she likes.

The last pic shows how I wrapped it. She worked on a number of things in the shop and the basement with me while this was happening but she was not allowed to look n the playroom so I would walk her from my office to the shop blindfolded. She was a great sport and very excited about it.

I also built 2 new beds, a bookcase, a wardrobe, a fireplace and chair. We are looking forward to working on the kitchen together along with a few more chairs.

Thanks for looking.

Very nice, Chris. I’m sure that she loves this.

I believe your daughter will cherish this. Funny how those play areas keep on growing.

Thanks guys. She loves playing it in it. We are looking forward to growing up the basement in other ways in the not too distant future, but this will be a key feature for a few years to come.
