This is my first post to this forum, and it is fitting because my project was inspired by a post here: http://lumberjocks.com/projects/22165

I just got married and we wanted a bigger bed! I looked at several ideas but had to have something that came apart for moving.

Would like to preface this project by saying it is all made out of pine:
4 – 2×8x8’ (rails)
2 – 2×6x8’ (posts/legs)
2 – 2×4x8’ (center support/slat supports)
8 – 1×4x8’ (slats)

I am a (very) novice woodworker eager to learn more! All my cuts were done on a table saw, miter saw or a jigsaw for the interlocking parts.

Thanks to the other lumberjock member that inspired with his design!

Feel free to ask any questions – I’ll do my best to answer! I took a lot of pictures along the way to share.

Nicely done, Derek! The original platform bed was one of the very first projects that I Favorited.
