To start off I’d like to thank all of those of you who contributed pictures & tutorials of wooden mallets. They have been a great source of inspiration & direction.

For several years I’ve wanted to make some wooden mallets & I need several for leatherwork for the Boy Scouts.

These three mallets were my first attempt & include;
1 Mahogany handle with mahogany & poplar head
2 Alder head with mahogany handle
3 An old Christmas tree head with mahogany handle

I had to shim the alder & Christmas tree mallets as my chisel job of the head wasn’t very clean.

Used a rasp & sandpaper to clean up & shape the handles. Finished them each with boiled linseed oil.

I like the Christmas tree mallet. I save all my Christmas trees and have done some cool things with them.

Good beginning and you learned something in the process, nice work.

Thanks folks, your comments are appreciated. I’m working on some more mallets and trying to improve & learn.
