Hollow tunings

These are 2 hollow turned vessels I made for friends we will be seeing tonight. Both are Cherry with Maple finials. Basic black paint from the local craft store and 2 coats semigloss Varathane for the finials. The pots have 2 coats of wipe on poly and 2 of paste wax.
My thanks to dhazelton and BobC for answering my finishing question. I did try the 0000 but I figured …what the heck, remounted the pieces and removed the finish with light scrapping. More sanding to 600G then the WOP. Thanks again mates.
Happy and safe New Year to all.

What the heck is right Mark, they turned out real nice and you ended up with a great finish. Like the finials, remember you asking about using black paint previously, you have answered it yourself, they look great.
Thanks for showing.

Those finials look awesome! I would never have guessed that it was black paint. You could have said it was ebony or African black wood and I would not have known the deferens.

-- I love my lathe. It’s old, not too pretty and I don’t really know how to use it… Love it!
