My friend always wanted to build a wooden chair, but did not for a long time how to riff as a layman a construction without wobbling and shaking. He had great respect for all, before the firm connection of the seat and backrest. Senior carpenter working there with glued peg, but what he did not trust himself.
Then he looked at a photo-together a chair in which you do without tenon joint and has the additional advantage that you can disassemble it as provide a space-saving folding chair in the corner. Which he then rebuilt, but with a wooden back.
