This was my 4th of these cradles, so I was well practiced when it was time for my 2nd daughter’s cradle. It’s made of highly figured bubinga and finished with poly. The pins are ebony.

The next one I made was prepared from a lot of scrap woods I had laying around. In order to make sure I did not split the glue-ups when fitting the tenons, I added a spline down the sides of the end pieces. I really liked how that came out, and so I am adding that to all the new ones.

Josie slept in there every night until she was 7 months old. Now it’s home for the girls’ dolls.

Nice work. I’ve built a few of these over the years, its a terrific plan. Did you build the box to store it in when its disassembled? Makes a great gift for first time parents.

Beautiful figure on the bubinga.

A family Heirlom. One day your daughter will have it for her children. You’ll be surprised how fast they grow up. Very nice.

Craig,

I have not made the boxes yet. Mainly because I only have 5 months to get one together after hearing about the upcoming blessed event, and with my day job, other projects and my own kids I am usually under the gun to get them finished in time to be useful!

Foggy,

Beautiful! This and your other work are quite impressive! Looks like you’ve got a good eye and a good lumber dealer as well.
