This are the ones Im making this week some are end grain some side grain the pith is on the bottom in some so it will not show too much also they will get a treat of instant glue 2 o 3 times sanding in between they will prevent more cracks and the ones there will be almost invisible,I had to atach a block on some due to failure of my nova chuck(jaw screw stripped) so I use my old and very good precision chuck(sorbys) this are just starting forms the final shape it will be done after a week rest and some more drying ,In my next post will show some catahua wood and how to decide what to make out of it when you have a split on it,so you dont waste too much, the trick is to make other things than bowls or vessels ej=boxes ,tops for turnings allready done etc or at the last resort use as backing blocks like above pict 3&5

Those are going to be beauties. That’s a fantastic wood you are using. What is it’s name?
