Carved spoon

I rescued a couple of pine blocks that had very plain grain in them, so decided to make a spoon out of one of them. Carved with chisel and carving gouges.

25cm (10”) long. Finished with olive oil.

edit: as ClaudeF kindly pointed out, it will not be used for cooking. This spoon was make from a scrap of NZ farmed pine, which is very fast growing and can harbour harmful bacteria and get bashed up. This was simply an exercise in carving as I was experimenting with some new carving tools on the softest wood I could find.

Nice. I’d like to try making some spoons myself.

-- I love my lathe. It’s old, not too pretty and I don’t really know how to use it… Love it!
