This is a Murphy bed that I call the Manhattan Murphy Bed.
I just posted a white one that I built along with it.
What I did different on both of these is I made the verticals 2 1/4” thick instead of the normal 3/4” thick. I also shortened the header form 2 3/4” to 2 1/4”. After adding the 2 1/4” base molding it have a perfect 2 1/4” frame around the entire murphy bed.
Both were competed in December 2015 using oak plywood and solids. This is one of my favorite finishes. I love the black lacquer over the oak wood. It gives it a very nice texture and hides imperfections. More info on this see the Manhattan Murphy Bed page.
For more building pictures see my Current Projects page wwbeds.com or I have 6000+ pictures divided by month in my Picture Archives.

Not that hard. I have a new mechanism that is real easy. Message me your email and I’ll send you out the plans to look at.
