That’s one of the side benefits of woodworking . . . always got a few cutoffs and shorts laying about to cobble together a needed dowhichie to solve a problem! Looks good and you got $70 in your pocket!

That shelf looks to be holding the weight of the tv surprisgingly well with no support (that I can see). Red oak with mortise-and-tenon joinery?

No, pocket jig and screws. I stood on it before I lost weight, was 228 now 191. It didn’t flex at all. TV is only 40-50 pounds.
