I love my drill press but the one thing I’m not crazy about is the cast metal table. There is no hole in the centre and it’s also really awkward to clamp items onto it. I saw this in a recent issue of Woodsmith Magazine and decided that this was just what I needed. Some scrap ply plus a few hours in the shop and presto .. a new drill press table. It just clamps to the existing table. The raised platform gives lots of clamping area and has a hole in the centre for the bit. The X grooves on the top help to hold dowel or other round stock.
