Well like the guys say we are junkies of wood,I could not queep my hands out of the wood and had to estart to make things out of it just finnish a vessel had to let dry and re turn again in about one to two months time, neither have the final shape yet or finnish, but I wanted to post the advance work of the first two,I can hardly sleep my mind is going a 1000 miles an hour figuring what to make out of it,ussually I make something that is natural for me to see how the wood behave then I can figure something more radical to do(carving, texturing etc) thanks for the interest will try my best to make this pieces as good as some jocks here, god and my hands willing, thank all
PS,the vase is 8×10”end grain turning, the vessel is side grain 8×4” in the last pic the markings are were it will be cut due to the pith crack

That is a very nice piece. I like it the way it is and love the shape and the grain I would like to see it when you put some finish on it. I have been trying to learn to turn and just finished a small spalted maple bowl it came out all right. Not as nice as yours.

A couple of nice turnings. I am very interested in seeing them finished. Thw cut out on the pith will really finish that one up.

Looks like a couple of great turnings. Can not wait to see the finished ones. Like you, I get caught up in the excitement. My wife laughs at me about it sometimes. Come to think about it, I laugh at me about it too.

These are super turnings. I like your penciled in idea on the top of the one. I know what you mean about thinking about what you will do with them and losing sleep over it. I do the same all the time when I’m working on a project.
