Long over due. About 2 years ago I threw out a few discs; in my back and my neck. I couldn’t do any work at for about six months. I was totally out of woodworking. Then, about a year ago I quit my job working for the nation’s top pharmacy retailer and took a job with what I consider as the nation’s top specialty woodworking retailer. Since then just about all my projects were for work or for the shop and I didn’t find anything relative to post. Happy to say I’ll be around much more often!
The boards – Canarywood, Padauk, & Cherry. I did three different ones for gifts this year. Just wanted to challenge myself trying to read the grain for the patterns that resulted.
Biggest gains -
The canarywood (my first time working with it) is awesome. Unbelievable grain patterns and very easy to work with considering the density.
I smoothed these out with the Bosch 1250 Dual Mode sander – Incredible machine. Just as powerful as the rotex for half the price. And yes, I’ve used both…I just sold the rotex because it paid for the bosch and then some.
General Finishes’ Salad Bowl Finish – No brainer. Hands down the best.
