This was made for a customer that wanted something different for her office.
Its all solid cherry but I wanted to add some contrast on the doves so I used chestnut for the draw sides.
The 3rd pic was taken just after the oil was applied and the 2nd pic (close up) shows how the oil mellowed after a couple of weeks.
The original design was to fit some suitable knobs on the doors, but she wouldn’t budge and opted for the cutouts
to match the draws. Its the only thing that spoils it for me.
Was fun to make!!

Russ,
I think the cut outs look great. I like the lack of hardware. She should feel spoiled for being the recipient of such a beautiful piece of furniture.

Very nice. In particular, I like the sweep of the corners and the natural wood drawer slides. Obviously, this piece has been made with pride and care.

Cheers guys
In my opinion hardware can either make or brake a piece and can be a challenge in itself to get right.
Sorry, no more pics as it’s now in the hands of the owner 100 miles away.

This is a nice project, Russ. I like the design of the piece and the legs add visual interest to it as well. This piece certainly is a blend of several styles but they work well together and give it a distinctive look.
How did you finish it?

I used a natural clear oil applied with a cloth. I prefer to use finishes that are quick and easy, finishing can be a bit of a science and to be honest its not something that I know much about..
Thanks
