I’ve been told that confession is good for the soul.
So here goes …
I’m TOTALLY ADDICTED to my animated lamps, especially the adventures of Dynamo Men.
As they become more complex, the “how” is just as important as the “why”.
The “why” is the easy part—people seem to love them. Easy Riders lasted less than a day in the gallery where I exhibit my “art” before they rode off to a new home.

What might they be doing next? ... other than the first thing that popped into your twisted minds :-)
I’m always open for suggestions.

Merry Christmas to all, especially my LumberJocks buddies !!!

Now grab a couple Christmas cookies, and a mug of eggnog, and watch the video … https://vimeo.com/147681004

Very cute.

Thanks mahdee, but it’s not “cute”, it’s an engineering marvel. :-(

As my animated lamps get more and more complex, they’re also getting smaller and smaller. The footprint for Easy Riders is only 5” x 5”, and the “dowels” at the pivot points are toothpicks.
I’m probably the only one on LumberJocks who knows the exact diameter of a standard round toothpick.
It’s 5/64”.
Don’t forget that you read it here first. :-)

Cute, clever and cool! Great job of animation—as always. Thanks for sharing.

Good one John. I can relate to the stomachs on the riders. Reminds me of my son and DIL who do a lot of biking, about 2,000 miles this year. A great way to burn off all the calories from those cookies and egg nog (at least in theory).

Thanks, Mike, but now I’ll have to explain the excessive girth of the riders. Because the upper legs need to clear a wheel, the frame, and a gear—all 1/4” thick—the bodies needed to be 7/8” thick.

So in this case, form DOES follow function. :-)

Merry Christmas, friend !!!

This would be great for a young child’s night-light. Put one of those golf-ball-sized 7 watt bulbs in it, and place it where they can see it while they’re laying in bed. They’d be mesmerized by the cyclists movement and lulled off to sleep in no time !

Another WINNER John !

All right, on further thought I’ll take back the “cute” comment. How about delightfully complex, clever and cool? Merry Christmas and watch the egg not consumption.
