My neighbor in Hawaii was a structural engineer (naval) who was married to a mechanical engineer. They decided that they wanted a small entertainment center and after many weeks finally produced me a design drawing. Some engineers! Looked like something my 8 year old niece had done. So I did a little of my own designing and came up with this center which we built in two weekends. Not only did it come out reasonably nice it also got him into woodworking on his own. Made from maple plywood, maple and some scraps of birdseye maple around the drawers for detail.
-- Mistake? No, that's just an unexpected design opportunity....

Need a close-up of one of your drawer fronts. Really like the design. The curved ‘base’ really makes it.

MaxS,alas, I have no more pictures available. I was particularly terrible at documenting my work when I started. Basically each drawer front was a slab of maple and then an 1/8” (IIRC) thick facing of scrap birdseye was applied around the edges.

Jim, when could I sign up for your classes? Wife says I need to go get all educated! She also says that you’ve got me totally beat in the ‘he who dies with the most clamps wins’ competition. I tried to tell her that your shop is a wee bit more productive than mine :)
