This is a simple doll bed that I made for my daughter, for Christmas. She will be getting an American Girl doll, but no way was I about to spend $100+ on their doll beds, and the ones I saw for cheaper seemed, well, cheap. I had a little bit of cherry scrap leftover, which I paid $1/bdft when I bought the original 100 bdft. There’s about 2 bdft in this bed.
The bed is made from cherry, and the rails, headboard, and footboard all attach to the legs with mortise & tenon joinery. The rails have a rabbet that accepts a 1/4” plywood panel. I got some foam from the fabric store, and the pink cloth was on the remnant rack, to make the mattress/sheet, the sheet is just stapled to the underside of the plywood panel.
Finish is 4 coats of Arm-R-Seal, buffed out with 0000 steel wool and paste wax.
Can’t wait to see her face when she opens it up in a few days.
