Really sharp and neat idea! Do you have a pattern for the hinges or a special way of doing them?

I love your ring box. I’m in the process of making a ring box myself. I’m having trouble with the suede lining right now though.
What do you do for your finish? At the moment my plan is to use boiled linseed oil first. Then I’ll rub in some wax over that. I would like it to have a glossy look though. I don’t have any experience with buffing but I think that would probably do the trick.

Thanks to everybody for your comments.
To Rick – I use Penetrol for finishing. It is a penetrating oil made in Australia. I used to make a mixture of equal quantities of boiled linseed oil, varnish and genuine turps. Because linseed oil takes a long time to dry, the mixture with the varnish and turps accelerates the process. I also buff the boxes with an antique wax to get the high gloss.
For the suede lining: I cut the foam to size and then use double sided sellotape around the sides to grip the fabric. I cut the fabric in a circle and then cut the edges like a star, so that the fabric fits firmly around the foam circle.
