This is an ornament I made for the Christmas Ornament competition at our turning guild. It is and inside-out turning made from 4 pieces of rosewood. It measure 2 1/2” diameter and 4 3/4” long and is finished with clear lacquer The 3rd picture shows the true color. There is a brass pin in the top for the hanging string.

The 4th picture is an ornament gift from LJ Scrollingmom. That was very nice of you….....they are beautiful…...........Thanks, Kelly, and Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all LJ’s everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers, Jim

I have heard of that but never tried it. Very nice. It appears that it is kind of a delicate type turning. Do you have a good source I could use to look into doing it! Again great work and Merry Christmas!!

Really pretty Jim. I have been wanting to try both inside-out turning and something with rosewood. Great job – as always

Thank you all for the nice comments!

Hi Steve. There are lot so u tube videos on inside out turning. here is one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pA734hhMeDE
this guy used a hoe clamp to holed his pieces together. I just started another one where I left the blank longer and put in 8 screws and no glue and paper like usually do and it held just great.

Hi Pete. This was the last job done on my old Craftsman lathe. I had my respirator and face shield on to stay away from the rosewood dust!

Hi Michelle. I’ll send you a PM about the rosewood.

Cheers, Jim

Nice work Jim, the rose wood looks great, pity the elves have problems with it.
