This was a fun project for a friend of mine. Took me forever to finish it due to other work in the shop. She nd her daughter are going to paint it.

Real nice work. Be sure repost a pic after they are done painting it, I’d love to see it!

A “take a book leave a book” stand has become an important part of our on the backside of nowhere mountain valley over the last 5 years. It’s grown from a small stand to three 8’ x 8’ buildings. The nearest library is about an hours drive. Our friends and neighbors from all ages love it and contribute to it

One has the books, one has board games and the other one has puzzles. Most everything in them now are flea market finds especially the board games and puzzles. The ladies also exchange recipes in it.

My wife made the comment to me one day the kids go there and sit outside and read, play games or work a puzzle together. I made two Adirondack chairs and a picnic table for it. It now has 8 chairs and two picnic tables. Our retied friends love it and enjoy working puzzles together and some really growling mean checker games there.

It’s become a meeting place for all of us here in our small isolated valley and we’ve never had a problem with it. We only have a 1.5 lane gravel road in here so the traffic is slow and local. It’s not usual to see kids bikes and horses there and the kids reading books and playing the games and doing puzzles together.

I certainly hope your take a book leave a book stand becomes important also. I think every community needs one. A community is all about the people that live there and make it into something good.
