I recently saw that Rockler had these inserts for sale, and a lightbulb went off in my head…. scraps+easy to use insert= Christmas gifts!

Made of padauk, maple, and walnut, I reused the handle template from my last project to cutout this handle; why not, right? The insert requires 2 different forstener bits, and is a really quick, efficient project for beer enthusiasts.

The hardest part for me was keeping the dust from sanding the padauk off of the maple… It kept creeping around on the spindle sander so I had to switch to a palm sander and dab it very lightly.

Finished with spray Lacquer, and a leather strap to hang it. Hopefully the Brother-inlaw likes it!

Cleaver idea. A personalized bottle opener will make it taste better.
